Below is the previous painting in a different orientation. The viewer can see that it works equally in this direction. Now I said that my basic rule - that a painting must work in all four directions - ensures an equality of powerful tension across the entire canvas plane. The advantage of ensuring this here is that I could study the relationship between the lines and the equal surface tension of the canvas plane. Most crucially, the line supports the planar tension, and the planar tension supports the line. I will return to this theme a number of times in my discussions.
